Welcome to Craig's XML Primer.

I have developed this website to house a set of 4 lessons that introduce the foundational concepts needed to begin using of eXtensible Markup Language (XML) document editing and Content Management System (CMS) applications. In order to acclimate to XML it is best to learn how to create the HTML tag structured documents that you commonly see in a browser on the Internet.

    Week 1 - Starting from the Ground Up

    If you can see this website, you have all the skills you need to start learning about HTML, Structured Markup Text, Relational Databases and XML... Of course we have to start slowly and build your knowledge, one tag at a time...

    Now that we have seen how structured tags work and can be manipulated, we also see how CSS works with HTML. The Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) methodology relates directly to the Style Sheets in XML. This will allow you to see how the documents you create in XML can be displayed in many formats

    This week we look at Relational Databases and how XML documents can be shared between servers online. Learning how databases are created using a simple Excel Spreadsheet to a more complicated database will help you see the effects of your work in XML.
